Bi Health Summit 2009

August 14, 2009 in Chicago - kick-off event evening of August 13

Welcome!

August 14 – 18, 2009 in Chicago  .

The 2009 Bi Health Summit has gone "Through the Life Course"

With over 75 people in attendance and a day packed with great presentations with lively discussions the Bi Health Summit definitely went "Through the Course of Life." Lots of information was shared. At the end of the day many old and new ideas came together the help create a clearer path to what the future of the Bi Health movement can and should look like. Of course as we all know, there is still much work to be done but we are one step closer for to manifesting a solid Bisexual Health Agenda can support the improved health of bisexual persons.

Thank you all for attending and sharing your knowledge and passion that will help frame both the discussion of and action steps toward policy changes and activities to move the Bisexual Health Agenda forward.

Here is a same but power example of one of the presentations. From Bi Cultural Competency and Men of Color

Jeffrey McCune is a professor at University of Maryland, who has done substantial research on DL men--some black/latino men who do not identify as "gay" who may or may not have sex with women, as well as other men. This performance brings together my work and the perspectives of two other performer-scholars (Alexander Sewell) and (Alcolu Lymon – unable to attend), to illustrate the complexities of HIV-outreach to discrete bisexual populations.

The reception was AWESOME!

We want to thank everyone who attended the Bi Health Summit reception at Minibar. It was great to meet new faces and reconnect with old friends. Some presenters where there share the background stories about there presentations. Great stuff!

Take a look at the incredible line-up of presenters on a variety of bi health topics.

We especially want thank Steamworks for supporting Bi visibility and generously sponsoring the entire reception.

We would also like to thank Minibar for welcoming us. Everyone, from the owner John Dalton (gorgeous btw) to the all the staff were just so nice to us (all hot too). Their food was simply delicious and I hear their drinks rocked too. If you’ve been there you know what we are talking about. If you haven’t been there, you must go. Join the LGBTI Health Summit for the closing celebration on Monday, August 17, time TBD.
